What is Galesburg Interfaith Collective?

Galesburg Interfaith Collective

“…to build bridges of understanding, kindness, compassion and respectfulness for all persons…”

The Galesburg Interfaith Collective is an initiative begun by a small group of religious leaders in the wider Galesburg area and the Director of Spiritual Life at Knox College.  Their desire is to build bridges of understanding, kindness, compassion and respectfulness for all persons, of all religious identifications, as well as those persons who are not aligned with or profess their faith in terms of any established religion.  The “Interfaith Collective” seeks to be welcoming, non-judgmental and respectful of the wide and varied nature of human spiritual journeys.  Those committed to the Galesburg Interfaith Collective believe foremost in love and justice, and seek to be in community and in action with and for any whose life experience has left them feeling vulnerable, disenfranchised, and victims of injustice in the name of established religious belief and beliefs.  Although the initial focus involves the wider Galesburg area and Knox College, the invitation to “connect” is to all persons and all institutions of higher education in West Central Illinois.  The “Interfaith Connection” seeks to be a safe place for people of all faiths, as well as people of no identified faith to experience and share the dignity of being human and explore together the sacred nature of our being.
